Troubleshooting

This section provides solutions to common issues and errors.

Data Retrieval

• Issue: Invalid stock tickers are entered.
• Solution: Ensure that you are entering valid stock ticker symbols.
• Issue: Some metrics show “N/A.”
• Solution: Some financial metrics may not be available for certain stocks. This is dependent on the data provided by Yahoo Finance.

Performance

• Issue: Processing time is long.
• Solution: The processing time increases with the number of stocks and selected metrics. Reduce the number of stocks or metrics to improve performance. Large datasets will naturally take longer to fetch and display.

Files

• Issue: Cannot export to Excel.
• Solution: Ensure that no other process is currently using the stock_data.xlsx file when exporting.

General Issues

• Issue: Application crashes or freezes.
• Solution:
  • Ensure all dependencies are correctly installed.
  • Restart the application.
  • Check for updates to the application and dependencies.
  • If the problem persists, please report it to the authors with relevant error messages.
